Sounds to me like some in this current generation of born after many coups in Nigeria do not know how we faired during military rule, and those born during military rule are silent about the virtues of democracy and how it gives us powers to choose who rules us.

All I can say is, be careful what you wish for.

All these and the likes remain what they are "empty rhetorics". The question is what is he and others who tow the line of this "neo-panafricanism" doing to put their individual countries and Africa on the global stage. I mean from Education to Healthcare, Good governance, innovation in Sciences, human rights etc. How do we compete in these and more?

Isn't it ironic he is saying that in "Russia-Africa Summit" holding in Russia. This is a summit where Russia wants to meet and woo African states but African leaders are herded to Russia. What is wrong in this summit holding on this continent. It's almost like we trade one "slave master" for another!

I have experienced both Systems in Nigeria. Obviously military rule is by far better.

Military built our 4 refineries
Military built our air & sea ports
Military built all our interstate roads
Military built the steel companies in Ajaokuta and Warri
Military built FCT
Military built National art theatre and Festac town.
Etc
Economy was much stronger and stable under Military rule.
The violation of human right is applicable to only the Political Elite NOT the poor masses.

Democracy is too expensive and LEGITIMIZES corruption and tyranny.

Legislature is RUBBER STAMP
Judiciary is fearful to deliver Justice
Executive disobeys court orders

Libya under millitary Gaddafi is better than Libya under DEMOCRATIC dispensation

What you wrote are facts. Unfortunately, some youths only understand history from what they learnt through CNN, BBC, WIKIPEDIA and our Colonized educational system that depicts the military in the worst possible light, because African military rulers are difficult for the west to control as puppets. Democracy has been whitewashed as the best system of government by this Super structures because African politicians have no dignity when it comes to worshipping white people.
24 years of democracy and Nigeria has been on a steady decline since 1999, with each subsequent administration promising to improve things but destroying the country more than they had met it.

I think it does. We vote, it's counted, and the person with the most votes is the people's choice. Some losers would not accept it though, but who cares what losers think?

And let me add that we Obidients lost the last election but some don't respect the people's choice, which just shows their obedience was short term and therefore not obidience at all.
