The capital of Sierra Leone, Freetown, fell to Nigerian forces today, sending the military leadership into flight and clearing the way for the return of the elected President.

After a brief but intense struggle for power, Nigerian jets today intercepted at least two helicopter gunships carrying senior members of the junta who were fleeing to neighboring Liberia after the collapse of their defenses. The military leaders, reportedly as many as 50, were forced to land near the Liberian capital, Monrovia, and were taken into custody at a Nigerian-run base.

Freetown fell after three days of heavy Nigerian bombardment and intense fighting. There were reports early today of fleeing junta members being chased through the capital by angry mobs, who beat those they captured to death and burned the bodies.

If a military head of state understand the psychological impact of coup in neighboring countries on his soldiers, why can't civilian government do same?

Sanni Abacha came to power through coup but he was fighting coup in other countries. The people of northern Nigeria supported him but opposed Tinubu decision to intervene in Niger

Nigeria is not going to war in Niger

If you like, twist the truth all you want, Nigeria will not go to war .

Some of you cowards will hide under your mother's pant at the sound of bomb blast as witnessed during the army cantonment bomb blast in Ikeja some years back

Don't push Tinubu to his doomsday . If you want the war so much, go and fight Boko Haram.

Everyone has advised the druggie against war, but his Agbadorian hordes keep urging him to his damnation. Let him hasten to wage his war. Is it by force to support the drug baron? If he thinks the war is good, let him cast the first stone.

I'll be happy to follow the war as I'm currently following the Russian-Ukraine war on a daily basis.

I admire Abacha, he intervened in civil war situations in both Sierra Leone and Liberia to restore peace and order. that was the difference. Niger is happy and at peace with their military government and should not be destabilised with an unwanted military invasion.

The Sierra Leone people were happy for Nigeria's intervention that is why there is today, a major road named after Sani Abacha in the capital Freetown. Even in the video you can see the civilians were happy that Nigerian troops were restoring peace.
People of Niger do not want any military invasion of their peaceful country.

No he did not. It is just that Liberia did not fully return to a peaceful state , but Abacha had stablised it before he our troops left.

The peace Liberians enjoy today wouldn't have been possible without Nigeria/Abacha. The man had his good sides to.

This boy receive sense for goodness sake. The people in the video above are in support of military intervention in their country but in Niger, the people are in support of the junta, Do you want a situation where the inhabitants of Niger will be hostile to our soldiers and even join in killing them? If you go to a place where the people don't want you, even the land will be against you. Agbado people rest o, I say rest in Jesus name, Amen.

Front page material, not that I support the military coup. If the military junta is serious., let him announce the time they will conduct the election. We don't want military government that will be in government, above six months. Am not in support of the West, especially France, the UK, and the US. Africa most be great.
