I always wonder who will take care of Baba and Mama if all their children have relocated abroad. No one can take care of your aging parents like the way you do. We pray to get old and be healthy. Not everyone can bring their parents to overseas.

One of my worries. Difficult to abandon my parents forever as I wouldn't want same for myself.
i know of folks that couldn't attend the funeral of their late parents. Where is the joy of surviving your parents!

Life expectancy is 52 years. For those that cross it how many of them are been taken care of by their children The same children who maids are raising their own kids. You will simply employ someone to care for them or get the child of relative to live with them in exchange for education.

Professionally managed residential care homes will become a common feature in the coming years and many outside Nigeria would prefer their parents taken care of, there.

This is gas lighting at it's finest. So people should cancel their dreams/ambitions because of their parents? What about those whose parents live in the village while they reside in the city? What should they do ? They should abandon their hustle in the city in order to take care of their parents? There are many people who's parents live in a different state from them. Should they leave what they are doing in the state they are based in just to care for their parents? It is very important to take care of your parents but your own survival should come first. You cannot be hungry and then have the strength to feed another human being whilst having an empty stomach. It's just human nature.

You're right. Children are in the best position to take care of their elderly parents. My grand parents took good care of my great grand parents. My parents took care of my grand parents and I have a responsibility to take care of my parents. Interestingly all of them were above 90 years old. Now things are changing, we're using extended relatives and care homes to cater for that responsibility.

Agree with you, but at the same time who will take care of their parents. Strangers, distant relatives, paid househelp who do not really care

Are you living with your parents and taking care of them?

Firstly, not everyone from a family will travel out. There's always gonna be some family relatives left to check on them. Aging parents could also be looked after by care givers and maids as no parent would preclude their children from traveling based on primordial sentiments.

Take care of your own parents and aunts and uncles, you don't need to try to save everybody. People who have japaed or who will japa will make arrangements on how to take care of their parents and elderly relatives.
