Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, will June 2024, officially clock out two years after its take-off in June, two years ago.

One personality that would be worthy of celebrating is the current Provost of the institution, Mrs Chisom Ezulike, whose trademark achievements have been remarkable. Mrs Ezulike's two years on the seat have brought tremendous growth to the institution with her unparalleled innovative leadership style.

Under her guidance, the college has seen remarkable advancements in student engagement and overall academic excellence. her visionary approach to leadership has set the college on a path toward becoming a pioneering institution in nursing education.

One of Ezulike's key achievements has been the implementation of technology in the nursing curriculum including entrance examination and Preliminary Training Session (PTS) using Computer Based Training (CBT) method for evaluation.

Again, by introducing simulation labs, hands-on training, and interactive learning experiences, Ezulike has ensured that students receive the most comprehensive and practical education possible.

This approach has not only enhanced the quality of education at the college but has also equipped students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel above their peers in their future nursing careers.

Ezulike's emphasis on innovation in nursing practice has significantly raised the college's academic profile and reputation, making it to become a magnet for students. The surge of applicants desiring to join the college for nursing and midwifery programs has become immense.

To save the situation, the college made a request to the NMCN for resource verification for the Nursing Department and full accreditation for the Midwifery Department. This happened last year December 2023. As God may have it, the college scaled through and had its quota increased for the Nursing Department from 75 to 120 and 100 for the Midwifery Department.

The astute administrator is certified in so many areas including nursing and midwifery. Her strong background in nursing education and a proven track record of leadership may have been the reason the Anglican authority deemed her fit for the position in line with the vision of the Visitor to the College, His Grace, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD,JP, the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion.

Just within two years, the institution now has well-equipped lecture halls, ICT halls with modern gadgets, well-equipped demonstration halls, enough structures for lectures and administration, as well as two coastal buses and qualified lecturers of adequate ratio.

This, among others, enabled the college to obtain 100% in their Mid-introductory examination, and also in their first semester year one examination. Students of the college are also through the facilities exposed to modern trends in nursing practice.

This feat was further reflected in their clinical posting at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, and Community Experience at various Health Centres in Awka South LGA, which gave them an edge over other student nurses from various colleges.
