Why are nigerians so negative? Every sensible nigerian should support the FG in this diplomatic row with SA. Even if FG can deport both DSTV and MTN, I am in full support. It is obvious SA is doing this for petty reason. Ask yourself this question; if yellow fever card is that important and is fake, why is it that USA, UK and co has not been deporting nigerians because of that? So it now takes an HIV infested south africans to now know they are in danger of yellow fever cos of fake cards from nigeria. How much is yellow fever immunization for example? Free in any local health centre across and I even give it in my hospital readily available from local immunization office that supplies us. When was the last time I saw yellow fever in clinical practise? They just want to spat on us. Simple. Nigherians are not disgraced abroad just because of corruption but we had been too soft. So what is so special that nigeria got too lose from the diplomatic? Nothing. They are the ones with heavy investment in nigeria. All we need to do is to start imposing 80percent tax regime on MTN and DSTV and only 5percent for indigenous network and see the ripple effect. SA is doing this for petty reason and if we don't respond now, they will soon start deporting nigerians for not taking their bath before boarding a flight

The bolded shows your little knowledge in the broad economy of scale. Participate in any business fora and ask that question economy-wise and see whether they won't send you out.

What is Nigeria? Ask the Chinese, German, French, Itallians and SA's multinationals Guy plseas don't make laugh.

Toaskarity:

South Africa will loose a lot just like Nigeria will but I dont think it will affect their economy that bad, they got east and the whole south africa to do bussiness with. Even west africa self!

I am a business man. From a business perspective, I can tell you that Nigeria is an investment goldmine. Especially for developed African nations like South Africa. Go and read about the story of what happened to Vodacom when MTN established in Nigeria. Till today, Vodacom is regretting their costly ignorance. Ever wondered why multichoice is more present in Nigeria than any other African country apart from SA? Do you know how many South African services exist and thrive in Nigeria?

Let me say it in pidgin english, Naija people sabi chop and enjoy life, but we no dey produce.

The above is the reason why we are a heck of a goldmine for businesses from developed nations. The advantage SA gat over other countries is the continental and regional familiarity. They can exist and do business with all the inefficiencies in Nigeria. That is difficult for people from other continents.

160 million mouths is not beans. Sell gala at the rate of 1 Naira to every Nigerian, you'll turn into a very big boy in every currency.

Guys, let us not bring too much intellect to a debate that is really very simple. Whatever we are facing, it is right that no one get away with treating us with open disdain especially because they want to adopt an adhoc disregard for legal provisions just to satisfy their hatred for Nigerians.

Refusing Nigerians entry into SA over vaccine card compliance is bogus and you guys should accept that from someone who knows first-hand what is going on. I absolutely back what is going here and we all should as a matter of principle and save the "we deserve it" or "we stand to lose more" arguments for later. simple.

I cant believe that some people think Nigeria can lose in this standoff! How much investments do Nigerian companies have in SA? If the almighty British had to surrender during the Arik issue, who is SA?

I love what is happening between Nigeria & SA.
Jacob Zuma (Paedophilia tongue) just stepped on the wrong toe.

High time Nigeria took resp for protecting its citizens and restoring the Nigerian Pride (or whatever is left of it).

Save for the strings of horrible leadership that Nigeria had (laced with coups, counter-coups, tribalism & corruption), Nigeria would have been way ahead of SA.

The potential for Greatness is still in our econonomy.

Is it just me or could this really be a conspiracy against Nigeria by other African nations spearheaded by SA? Like someone rightly said whether we stand to lose more or not we mustn't condone this slap on the face(thank God this is Nigeria we can do roforofo fight wella). Today it's SA, tomorrow it could be Guinea Bissau. **AU una fada**

Some people are just mere cowards.
for the fact that more Nigerians are in SA does not mean that FG should not take
drastic step to stop the SA inhumanity to Nigerians.
It is surprising that some people have began to show defeatist sign when the real row is yet to begin.
Nigeria will lose most of its stolen wealth stash in SA, That's fine, at least those stolen wealth are not useful for the real owners, '' The Nigerian Masses''
But SA, on the other hand, will loose her real  investment in everything thing.
I understood that SA made profits in Nigeria more than in any other African Country combined.

his is a simple case of the Camry 1999 ( Nigeria ) and a Camry 2012 both fighting for the same space, if neither of them succumbs to the other, there's a collision, who loses ? Both cars are dented, how much to fix a 1999 Camry ? maybe tops 200k from a very good auto engineer, how much to fix a 2012 Camry maybe 1.5mill from Elizade, both SA and Nigeria would lose should the diplomatic ties break, but SA would lose more 20 years to come because they will never get another opportunity ( a Mugun ) like the  Nigerian government anywhere else in the World.
On the SA companies here, China ( hungry tiger ) would jump in and provide a much cheaper service that SA companies would.

I think we should all support the FG. Even if Nigeria looses more in the long run which i doubt. But it makes coward of us if we keep mum and swallow it. You have more respect when you fight with your might but loose than when you take off instead of fighting.

What an irony, south Africa a country with the highest rate of hiv/aids in the world (also highest rate of rape in the universe} deported 125 Nigerians because of mere yellow fever card.
All these people who dont support FG in this diplomatic row dont know how painful it is to be deported for little or no reasons,
tit for tat is one the best remedies in a sitution like this.

God bless Nigeria my Motherland. smiley
Re: Nigeria Deports 56 More South Africans -- More To Follow by manchy7531: 10:16am On Mar 07, 2012
Nigeria has way more to lose than SA if diplomatic relations break up between the two countries.
I'm in favour of some form of escalation, it was poor form for SA to deport those guys. But the truth be told, Nigeria has more to lose. Only the top end of SA citizens would come to Nigeria, and only for business. Nigeria, on the other hand, have the entire scope of the population running to SA. Reasons ranging from capital flight to asylum seeking to holiday-making. Nobody comes to Nigeria for any of that.

And about MTN. MTN is making a killing in Nigeria, yes, but don't forget that MTN is market leader in 21 of the 22 countries it has a footprint in. After all, Vodacom never came to Nigeria, and are still doing very well. Same as for Multichoice. Most of the SA investment in Nigeria is significant. If they are pulled out, it represents massive loss of job in Nigeria, not SA.

yes you are right that MTN is a leading brand in many countries but also know that Nigeria alone contributes 45% of MTN's total income and asset. Also Nigeria contribute more than 40% of that DSTV with most of their adverts outside coming from Nigeria(because there are other satellite(direct to home) companies competing with DSTV in south Africa so they have more customers in Nigeria) that is why their largest studio in the world is in Lagos Nigeria.Nigeria remains their largest market. and if they decide to pull out bro there might be job loss but bet you it will not even last a month cos there are many of companies that will take over immediately especially Nigerian companies.obvious most people have more than two Sim cards so we will not miss MTN as well as DSTV.there are others that will be praying DSTV leaves Nigeria and many more south African companies in Nigeria especially in the oil industry and south Africa will not be a fool to dare have a fight Nigeria. Nigeria will loss too but i think south Africa will cry because Nigeria can easily replace them with time.
