Omo_Tier1: You strike me as someone who does not know how to draw analysis. How could be using Lagos as a benchmark? The last I checked lagos was the former FCT, it was the former head of all the establishments this country has ever had..but not anymore. Is a one state that was developed by all Nigerians. Of which the % of SW input is not above the Igbo's or Hausa's. Lagos in most technical sense does not belong to SW. I will wish that you bring in core SW states like oyo, oshun or Ogon, ondo or its cities to draw your comparison. Then you will know that SW is far far behind from being developed when you compare it to SE/SS regions. Don't misunderstand me biko.. 2 Likes |

You only posted pics of nice places, dear. You obviously went from the airport straight to Le Meridien, passing thru Nsikak Eduok ring road, to Nwaniba road, where you saw the fountain en route Le Meridien. Then you were taken to the places they wanted you to see. I shall be back with PICTURES of Uyo. Pictures no one is allowed to see. Wait. Maybe when I post the pics, the state government will work on those parts too. |

CFCfan: @Warri_Pikin: the Uyo Olympic stadium CANNOT host a FIFA World cup match. The minimum capacity for a world cup stadium is 40,000; the Uyo stadium will have a capacity of 30,000.If so, this shows the ignorance of the Governor, how can he built a new stadium of 30k capacity instead of 40k capacity |

chino11:Is it me or those jolts UYO is now comparable with Lagos? Haha, so Lagos now belongs to SS or SE ? FYI, Ogun is not Akwa-Ibom's mate. Maybe you need to study properly the industrial hub of Nigeria to know why Ogun cannot be compared to Akwa-Ibom. The reality about Akwa-Ibom will unfold before your very clear eyes when Akpabio leaves office... |

laz_inc:fool! Port harcourt only has aba road? Maybe that's where the bus you enter always pass, because if you had a car, you'll see the new airport road, peter odili road, stadium road, eneka/igurwuta road, how many flyover does uyo have? Go check out all port harcourts fly over! Port harcourt is a large triving city with a population second to lagos, so traffic is bound to happen dispite the good road networks. Not uyo were you build roads and only bike, chickens and goats ply it. And you did'nt mention the educational and healthcare sectors, guess you knew there was no arguement there and you choose to shut up! |

What type of business are the people engaged in and what type of business could strive well if established in Uyo? thanks and looking forward to good response. The town seems really peaceful and nice. |

I don't see why the thread should have degenerated to Akwa Ibom vs Lagos, Akwa Ibom vs Rivers, Akwa Ibom vs South Eastern States, Akpabio vs Fashola, Akpabio vs Attah etc The states of road in Uyo are very good...the aesthetics abi na beautification beautiful too especially at night. There's this feeling whenever I come in from Calabar and I am approaching Itam junction...the streetlights combined with the faucet-coloured water flowing fountains are enough to make me glad I am back to Uyo...at those times, it doesn't occur to me to praise Attah, Akpabio or compare....that being said, Lagos should not and cannot be compared to Uyo...whoever does so errs. I am of the opinion that roads and aesthetics alone do not make up a city, town; the people in it do. Lagos is miles ahead and not only due to its infrastructures but due to its people too. It's one thing to build infrastructures...it's another thing to have people who appreciate and know the right use of the infrastructures. The average Akwa Ibom man is not innovatively inclined...well except for the very few who just came in and got exposure from living in other cities. I remember when okadas were to be banned years back. That day I was stuck with some Akwa Ibom okada men in a shelter because it was raining and Oron road was flooded. These men laughed at the few 'kekes' that were plying the road and navigating the flood. They said nothing would make them drive 'kekes'. Fast forward to the ban and then commuters suffering because very few 'kekes' plyed the roads and charged exhorbitantly till the Igbos from Abia and other neighbouring states came in. The Igbos took over the 'keke' business bringing normalcy to transport fares again before some Akwa Ibom men decided to venture into the 'keke' business either on hire purchase or to drive...now the city is clogged with 'kekes'. Same with the supermarkets...only very few supermarkets which can be counted on the tip of my fingers belong to Akwa Ibom men...they'd rather look for tiny contracts, stuff their pockets and build houses rather than businesses. Anyways, Akwa Ibom is gradually awakening...people who have come back arer bringing with them ideas to upgrade the mentality of the people. Good roads are good even if they lead to nowhere but an economically fit and commercial driving people will be better. So, if factories and more job avenues are created, Akwa Ibom can then beat its chest at also helping to make Nigeria better. |

Those who keep mentioning that roads in Akwa-Ibom is constructed by Julius. B maybe should also tell us how much those roads are constructed for. I remember Oshiomhole mentioning that He once invited Julius B to come construct some roads in Benin and when they brought their cost estimate it was almost twice of the true cost. Now anyone who has seen the roads constructed by Oshiomhole would know He goes for quality roads, but His refusal to engage Juliius B. tells me they Julius. B is fleecing Akwa-Ibom and for me heaven,I really cannot see the difference between roads constructed by Setraco in Benin City and the ones Julius B. is constructing in Akwa-Ibom.. |

dtc2k: Can anyone please tell us the crime rate in Akwa Ibom and UYO in general? Also what is the actual buying power of the people in terms of business? What type of business are the people engaged in and what type of business could strive well if established in Uyo?the crime rate here in Uyo is close to zero. Uyo is a virgin land as there are virtually no competition around here due to the fact that the youths here are generally lazy. I wish you well. . . Erm, don't forget me oh. . . . . . . . . . . BTW, up nepa |

What's all these arguments for Lagos is ǡ cosmopolitan city, Ibom is a rapidly developing city on its own also, and lemme tell you guys, compare the two administration and governors for all you want, they are not doing up to 30% of what they ought τ̲̅ȍ be doing. We are just new τ̲̅ȍ these things that's why we go about praising any little things those politicians do. All these things ought τ̲̅ȍ have been done years back!!! 1 Like |
