People who speak against giving of firstfruits love to act like the Bible doesn't contain anything about giving firstfruits. It clearly shows that they don't even read their Bible. They know nothing but act like they know it all.

Firstfruits also means firstlings. Below is Abel giving his firstling to God who got pleased by the act.

Genesis 4:4
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

Below is the book of wisdom advising you to honor God with your firstfruit.

Proverbs 3:9
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

All who are against giving firstfruit to God are the same people against tithing. Yet they love to boast about freewill giving. Do they think the dirty N100 note they squeeze into the offering plate is what is enough to even power a Church's generator? When was the last time you gave God anything above 10%? I doubt you did such this year. Yet you sit down in an air-conditioned church, enjoy the music and the nourishing word of God without blessing God in return. Don't you know that the activities in the church is powered by other people's firstfruits?

You might say why does God need your money. He doesn't need your money, he only needs his own money. That money which you claim is yours is not really yours because everything on earth belongs to God. He gave you the money and wants just a small fraction from it. Some might also say they never saw God while they were working hard for the money, so why should they believe he gave them the money. If God had stroke you dead or caused you to be sacked, would you be counting the money? Don't you know that there are people better qualified for that job of yours than you, yet God let you have it?

If you don't pay your tithe or firsrfruits, don't worry you will still pay it later. God has a way of getting what belongs to him.

Leviticus 27:30
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord

Mark 12:17
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

Since you don't want to give willingly what belongs to God, then he will take it out of you in one way or another. Let me tell you a story about the children of Israel. God told them to farm on the land for 6years then allow the land to rest on the 7th year. They disobeyed God and ignored his commandment. God left them alone for a while, which possibly must have made them feel God was bluffing when he gave the command.

Do you know what God did? He calculated all the 7th year they disregarded and it all amounted to 70 years. He now made the King of Babylon to take the children of Israel away from their land and into captivity in Babylon for 70years. That way, the land rested for 70years after which the children of Israel were now freed from captivity and returned to their land.

If you fail to give God, he will take it out of you. It's the same as a child saying she won't wash the dishes are parents told her to wash. Well, the kid will get spanked and still wash the dish. God can make you fall terribly sick such that the first fruits you were supposed to give him will be spent on medical bills. It could be common cough that will hey you hospitalized and make you spend that much. Perhaps your car breaking down regularly to the extent that you become a meal ticket to mechanics. The good part is that the doctors who treat you and the mechanics might be tithe or first fruit payers. That's how your money will end up with God even after you've been spanked.

The grouse most of those who kick against firstfruits have is mostly regarding the life of opulence pastors of today live. That's why they grumble at giving their money to such people. Well, if your pastor falls into such category, then go look for another church e.g a Baptist Church where accountability is high. We can't throw away the baby with the bath water because some pastors abuse and enrich themselves with first fruits.

If you don't want to Pay tithe or firstfruits, then it's between you and God. Just don't go about trying to persuade others from paying.

#Notice

I'm not a pastor neither do I own a church. I'm just an ordinary Nairalander like everyone else. My only mission is to protect God's business. Yes, God has a business and that business is the house of God. Ever wondered why Jesus told Mary and Joseph that he had to be by his father's business?

Luke 2:49
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Anybody who gives first fruits to these scamming pastors deserves to suffer

Rather, the person deserves God's respect.

You're very cunny. You bolded first fruit but not the INCREASE next to it. How can a person earning an amount in 2018 and January 2019 he/she still earns same, will you say that person has an increase? So if someone earns 20k and he has a family and no other means of income, he gives you all his January salary you will accept it.

You pastors or whatever you claim you're need to hide your head in shame. Stop devising means to take the little people have. This country is sooooooooooo poor, instead of taking why don't you give back? Haven't you guys taken ENOUGH?!!!!! All your prayers, sowing and declarations and Nigeria is still a cesspit.

You're very wicked. January has 5 freaking week and school fees, books, uniforms and many bills have to be paid and you want them to give their money to a pastor?! When did FRUIT a farm produce become money?!

The Nigerian version of Christian god is always hungry for money. He's never ever satisfied. This same January he's asking for your first money, he still wants your tithe, he still wants your offering, he will still lay it in your pastor's heart to raise seeds and funds.

How dare you mock people that give their money willingly?

Take a walk around your town and see how poor and hungry people are. You're so insensitive and you lack wisdom, you've no respect. Get a life and stop policing people's money. You were not they when they made it and you've NO right to tell them how to spend it.

You say they have no say in how their pastors spend their own money and they should leave them to god. How about taking your own advice and leave the people to god.

You don't understand what increase means. Perhaps you think it means an increase in salary. No.

Increase as used in the verse is talking about any addition to your pocket, this includes Monthly additions which you receive as salary. So your January and other monthly salary should have ten percent paid to God.

Stop being greedy and give unto God what belongs to God else you will be robbing him. Even when there's no hardship, you will still not pay God a dime. After paying 10%, God will ensure you love better with the 90% left than you would with the whole 100%.

No pastor has deviced any means to take money from you. It is God who said you should pay it.

God will never stop asking for money from you no matter how poor you are. Remember how Jesus watched when that widow gave her last Mite, he even praised her. If someone like you existed in those days, you would have acted like a bloody Pharisee and questioned why Jesus didn't tell the poor widow not to bother putting the money in the offering plate.

As per your last paragraph, I never said such. Stop lying.

See this one saying I don't know what increase means and in the same breath saying "increase means addition to your pocket".

You're not smart. I knew you would bring up the woman that gave little and all that but a simple question, was she asked to or she just did it willingly?

Tell god to go make his OWN money and take his eyes off other people pocket. Only thieves do that. "God" should stop robbing Peter to pay Paul.

If "God" can bring down manner from heaven why can't he rain down bills for his servants?! After all Jesus said you will do greater works than him. How about commanding money instead of begging and threatening people?!

Lemme tell you something. If after giving "God" will ensure I live better all you bible thumpers will be excessively wealthy or worst very comfortable.

I can just imagine Jesus after feeding the 5000 asking them to drop something for "God". Oh and after raising Lazarus, oh yeah the disciples to. Am sure he was collecting tithes, first fruit, love offering, birthday offering, change "daddy's" suit offering.

This your comment is very funny. It shows the level of anger bottled up inside of you. grin

You are now telling God to go and make his own money. Oya employ God na grin

If God should decide to follow your advise by making his own money, then you will be dead in no time. You will die because everything in this world belongs to Him and he has given them to you. He will simply take them back and you will starve to death cos you will be left with nothing.

You also want God to rain down money from heaven. Do you think anyone would want to work if such is obtainable?

God never said he will make you wealthy. He knows wealth can destroy you and make you prone to Satan's attack, so he will never bless you to that extent.

Stop rushing to reply me, else you will be showcasing your lack of patience. I never said poor people are those who fail to give God money. I only said their condition maybe as a result of not giving to God.

Do you know that Jesus also collected money from people? If he didn't, how come he had a treasurer called Judas Iscariot?

Do you also know that some women usually gave Jesus money?

Like 8:2-3
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

Where was it written that he expected money after giving a message?!

Can't you see that she gave WILLINGLY?! What's wrong with you?! Why're you blind to the truth.

About me being "angry" I LOL!!!! Why won't I be angry with the number one yahoo yahoo?! I hate fraud, I hate people ripping others off so yes.

I'm not a pastor neither do I have a church. I don't even attend church, but will start as from January 2019.

Are you saying we should throw away the old testament? Remember that firstfruits offerings as seen in Genesis and proverbs are not talking about the law of Moses which you all love to throw away. Proverbs is a book that encompasses both old and new testaments.

You all love to ask for New Testament verses. Okay, below is one. Why haven't you guys sold your land and house to give the Money to the church?

Acts 4:34-35
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

anything not found in the doctrine of Christ should not be found in that of his supposed followers.
And read the Act 4 you quoted again, this time very slowly. It says "no body lacked", but instead of your pastors to sell their properties and distribute money to the poor, they ask the poor to bring money in form of tithe, first fruits, forbidden fruit (lol). They are doing the opposite of what the apostles did.

FIRST FRUITS IN JUDAISM AS GOD DESIGNED IT TO BE
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Fruits

Hebrew perspective

Main article: Bikkurim (First-fruits)

In Ancient Israel, First Fruits was a type of offering that was akin to, but distinct from, terumah gedolah. While terumah gedolah was an agricultural tithe, the First-fruits, discussed in the Bikkurim tractate of the Talmud, were a sacrificial gift brought up to the altar (Bikkurim 3:12). The major obligation to bring First Fruits (henceforth: Bikkurim) to the Temple began at the festival of Shavuot and continued until the festival of Sukkot (Bikkurim 1:6). This tithe was limited to the traditional seven agricultural products (wheat, barley, grapes in the form of wine, figs, pomegranates, olives in the form of oil, and dates) grown in Israel. This tithe, and the associated festival of Shavuot, is legislated by the Torah. Textual critics speculate that these regulations were imposed long after the offerings and festival had developed.

By the time of classical antiquity, extensive regulations regarding Bikkurim were recorded in the classical rabbinical literature. According to Jewish law, the corners of fields, wild areas, left-overs after harvesting (gleanings), and unowned crops were not subjected to (and could not be used as) the tithe of First Fruits (they were intended to be left as charity for the poor, and other mendicants); plants from outside Israel were also prohibited from inclusion in the tithe, as was anything belonging to non-Jews.[ The rules also specify that each type of product had to be individually tithed, even if the numbers were balanced so that there was no difference in amount between this situation and using just some types of First Fruit as the tithe, and retaining others in their entirety. Fruit which was allocated to the tithe could not be swapped for fruit which wasn't, to the extent that wine couldn't be swapped for vinegar, and olive oil couldn't be replaced by olives; furthermore, fruits were not allowed to be individually divided if only part went to the tithe (small whole pomegranates had to be used rather than sections from a large pomegranate, for example).

The separation of tithed produce from untithed produce was also subject to regulation. The individual(s) separating one from the other had to be ritually clean, and had to include the best produce in the tithe if a kohen (priest) lived nearby. During the act of separation, the produce was not permitted to be counted out to determine which fell under the tithe, nor to be weighed for that purpose, nor to be measured for the same reason, but instead the proportion that was to become the tithe had to be guessed at. In certain situations, such as when tithed produce became mixed with non-tithed produce (or there was uncertainty as to whether it had), the tithed produce had to be destroyed.Anyone who made mistakes in the separation of tithed produce, and anyone who consumed any of the tithe, was required to pay compensation as a guilt offering.

The pilgrims that brought the Bikkurim to the Temple were obligated to recite a declaration, also known as the Avowal, set forth in Deuteronomy 26:3-10 (cf. Mishnah, Bikkurim 3:6). Native-born Israelites and proselytes would bring the Bikkurim and would say the Avowal, but women who brought the Bikkurim were not permitted to say the Avowal, since they were unable to claim inheritance in the Land bequeathed unto the tribes by their male lineage.[a] This Avowal was incorporated into a beautiful and grand festive celebration with a procession of pilgrims marching up to Jerusalem and then the Temple with gold, silver or willow baskets to which live birds were tied. (Bikkurim 3:3,5 and cool. The pilgrims were led by flutists to the city of Jerusalem where they were greeted by dignitaries (Bikkurim 3:3). The procession would then resume with the flutist in lead until the Temple Mount where the Levites would break out in song (Bikkurim 3:4). The birds were given as sacrificial offerings and the declaration would be made before a priest while the basket was still on the pilgrim's shoulder (Bikkurim 3:5-6). After the basket was presented to the priest, it was placed by the Altar and the pilgrim would bow and leave (Bikkurim 3:6).

I'M STILL WONDERING HOW FIRST FRUITS HAS TRANSFORMED INTO FIRST WAGES & SALARIES WITHOUT ANY CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS FROM GOD IN THE SCRIPTURES TO THE CONTRARY!

Give unto God and man, but please beware of false teachers twisting the truth (facts) on ground with a little error or lies to suit their selfish interests

Galatians 3 v 13-14

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

After reading the above verses, anyone who preaches of obtaining blessings through tithes and first fruits is a cursed charlatan and fraudster!

Is firstfruits a practice under the law of Moses? No.

Firstfruit giving had been in existence right before Moses and even Abraham were born. Abel gave firstfruit and he wasn't under the law. In the book of Proverbs, Solomon said we should honor God with our firstfruits, and he didn't say the commandment was under the law.

Proverbs 3:9
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

The above is for those who believe it. If you don't believe in it, why go ahead trying to dissuade people from obeying the word of God?

More than thieves, armed robbers. The OP whole passion is tithes and now first fruits. They just want to scam week minded individuals.

One question I always ask these scanners called pastors is that are they allergic to earning their own living? They are so lazy, they want to leech of the sweat members for the rest of their lives. Lazy bums.

If they have the powers to give people riches and wealth, through prayers, tithes and first fruits as they cliam, why not show example by working and earning money and then use that money to pay tithes, offerings, first fruits, pledges, etc, and then see how God bless their work.

He is a pastor. Make no mistakes! He is just protecting his business. Insensitive idi*t parading as pastors. Thieves!!!!

All of them are thieves in suits including the one that drives on empty tank for several km.

Look dude, I don't own a church neither do I attend one, though I've decided to start attending a Baptist Church next year. So, this your talk of me trying to protect my business doesn't hold water. I'm actually trying to protect God's business which is the church. Or don't you know that the church is God's business? Listen to what the Son of God himself said below when Mary and Joseph came to look for him in the temple of God.

Luke 2:49
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
