Careerwise Dentists earn more money.

First off Dentists are Doctors. Both are governed by NMDCN and NMA. They are specialized early in their careers. Their specialty is oral cavity and maxillofacial regions and how it affects the body as a whole. So dentists are already surgeons upon graduation because of the various procedures they rigorously learnt at med school.

Back to your questions. Dentists are sort after because they are very rare. Inviting a dentist to consult in a private hospital will gulp at least 100k. The various procedures they carry out also, like filling cavities, fixing braces, facial reconstruction, aesthetics and whitening... Etc are very expensive and may run into millions. A resident Dentist takes about 250k above per month here in Nigeria and could average $5k to 20k per month abroad.

No b everyone dey go see dentist

Honestly, I have never consulted a dentist in my life...!

I almost visited one a decade ago when I had a serious unexplained toothache that was a nightmare... However, Longrich toothpaste came to the rescue, and till today it has never resurfaced!

I might eventually visit one before I depart this world sha! grin

See question you're asking. With your brown teeth have you gone to see a dentist? Go for pharmacy. It has so much prospects in and out of the country.

Is that even a serious question??! Lol! grin

Every course or career's lucrativeness is subject to the intelligence and business acumen of the practitioner!

There are poor pharmacists and rich dentists... And there are wealthy pharmacists and wretched dentists!

The sole truth is that Pharmacists are far more in-demand than Dentists in Nigeria and most parts of the world!
Pharmacists may be in higher demands, but they are also in much higher supply..
There are less than 5000 Dentists in Nigeria, for a country of more than 200M..
One thing is for sure, you'll never ever see an unemployed Dentist in Nigeria..

A Pharmacist may have potentially higher prospects in Nigeria but not in outside the country..

I honestly hope so...!

The question is about demand! How many Nigerians (Common Nigerians) visit dental clinics??!

From my little research, the demand for dental care in Naija is ridiculously and unusually low!

Might be a blessing that few people actually study it!

I'm an accountant so I know when it comes to salary and welfare what a Pharmacy may earn in 10 years a Dentist can pocket it in 2 years.

Before an Embassy would deny a dentist Visa they would have denied 100 pharmacists visa.

A Dentist is highly sorted after worldwide.

Dentist. They make more money both home and abroad. I extracted a tooth and i was baffled at how much i was charged for a procedure that took less than 30 mins.

Most pharmacists end up struggling with chemist man for customers.. But the smart ones end up being a drug peddler the type we have as Inec selected.. Dentistry is better off cos they have rare stiff competition in their field ..

A Dentist is a Medical Doctor whereas a Pharmacist is addressed as Pharm

You think people don't visit dentists. I laugh in 50 languages. Who do you think does facial reconstructions in major accidents that disfigures the face. Have you witnessed oral tumors before. Or you are part of the bandwagon that believe it's All about teeth. Guuuyyyy

Lol... Of course, by cadre, dentists and physicians earn more than pharmacists in hospitals, especially government hospitals!

That still doesn't mean Dentists make more money than Pharmacists in Nigeria! Except you'll have me believe that all dentists' and pharmacists' employment in Nigeria is done in government hospitals!

Matter of fact, how many of our dentists, pharmacists, and even doctors do government hospitals and establishments absorb??! barely 30%!

We are talking private practice here...! In that aspect, where pay comes through visitations and consultations, who is more in demand and who sees more money annually??!

Any dentist that stay in this country is just wasting his time. The salary of average dentists in USA and UK can pay ten pharmacists

The number of Dentists in the country is so low, compared to the population..
That the job opportunities are simply too many,no matter how poorly the demand..
For allied Dental Professionals ,like Dental Therapists..
The issue of demand may be a problem, because of supply, but not for a Dentist..
