HacheNoire:Please don't flatter yourself. I will never by grades for my kids, because my parents never bought grades for me. so, what do you expect you want your kids to graduate from the university at age 40, by all means you are welcome to do that to your kids. but please don't force it down our throat, because we share the same country, and some dull head are making decisions for the rest of us. i am one of those people who graduated at age 21 / 22 and a am pretty successful. so go tell your kids otherwise. having a teacher as a mother will tell you to high level of intelligence I and my siblings possess. I won't waste my kids' years studying rubbish in those your so-called university which doesn't impact any form of knowledge whatsoever. 2 Likes 1 Share |

HacheNoire: Don't waste your time arguing with average Nigerians. The race for competition and outdoing others is the bane of our society. How many statistics do we want to give to them?. Rate of suicide among the young ones of today? Inability to comprehend or even carry our basic research? For every Nigerian graduating with a merit and giving a valedictory speech abroad, there is 99 held down by plagiarism. Or don't we see even on front-page people advertising to do research work for others? There are receipts everywhere. |

fxexperts: At 22, is not bad bros. It's actually a good age to graduate. The argument here is 18/19, bro. You sef reason am na. Do something. Try to hold a conversation with a graduate of 18/19 yo. Then please by all means, come back and update us. There is a high probability that the greater percentage will shock you. There will definitely be outliers though, no doubt about that. |

fxexperts: If you claim to be enlightened, you should know their are age limits in western educational system, and special programs to earn extra ordinary academic excellence. Can you say same about Nigeria? Everyone’s kids is brilliant and got double promotion twice. Do we have any standard programs to show kids possess those brilliance? No! We just go meat with the head master and get the job done. Walk the same way to common entrance and jamb, and when year 1 results gets published, you start asking where all the “extraordinarily” brilliant students are. |

peekspot:Understood! I hope Government will make a law against setting low age as a prerequisite to employment in work places. When a bank is looking for a graduate with first class in Accounting, ICAN, M.Sc, etc and the age must be below 23 years old when ASUU can take 7 years for a 4 year course! This is the problem! Until when job is easy to get for a Nigerian from the age of 16 years |

dfrost: You hit the mail on the head. On this same forum, I have seen someone selling verifiable university certificate. I don’t know what the race is about. They don’t consider the mental health of those kids. Most are ready to buy their kids admission slot at the university at 1 year old |

dfrost:That applies to everything, sportsmen musicians etc may become very successful and rich as kids and do not develop broad skills. Education is not limited to what happens in school. No one would say that you cannot compete in Olympics at 12 years you shouldn't because of age |

HacheNoire: You are on point with this. I believe most people in Nigeria are mentally stretched. Nigeria is one of those countries where people see black and call it white. Nigeria is one of the place where people justify wrong with wrong e.g what of underage marriage?, What of politicians stealing money. A young teen robbed a family and killed some of the family members and "Nigerian" were asking that he be released because boko-haram were killing. Some ask you to Google a name that finished University at 10. How many such people graduate at 10 years every year in US and UK. It is because it is such an exception that they got into Wikipedia in the first page. Those that developed educational curriculum know why they have structured it that way, and it is based on long term data. There might be a few outliers, but they remain few and the outliers. |

Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by dfrost: 8:49pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
sgtponzihater1: Exactly 💯 what I stated. They are outliers, and that might be 1 or 2 in a pool of 100. |
Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by HacheNoire: 8:49pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
sgtponzihater1: I am so impressed with your analysis. I can imagine your exposure and enlightenment. Such is not the case in my country. Everybody has a kid who got double promotion in their family. They keep pushing those kids to limits that, even the kids are fed up but cannot say it. I remember days when double promotion called for celebration and was a big news, now, it’s a norm. The system has been bastardize and I will repeat, the parents are the major propellant. |

dfrost:Borders on? Please translate to English What is education in school? Music doesn't happen in school? Sport doesn't happen in school? Acting does not happen? Discussion. of any topic. entails the introduction of perspectives which is what I have done. Some people are academically exceptional while others are exceptional in other domains No one says to those gifted in sports ,music etc wait till you are older So why should a 10 year old who can do university level mathematics or write computer code be held back because of his age That is not a complex point to comprehend is it? |
Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by fxexperts: 8:56pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
dfrost:I could have graduated at 19 if not for one i did a 5 year course engineering and two i missed a year after jamb i actually got all my WAEC papers including GCE i did the previous year in one sitting. and in my first jamb i got over 200 and i was asked to pay money to be admitted even though i got over 200. I wrote again the second year and choose a different school, scored higher this time i got admitted. i actually finish secondary school age 15. So, there is absolutely nothing wrong in that. The reason we are having low quality graduate is all down to our poor educational system and it has nothing to do with the age of the student. let me tell you i was so fascinated with science and discovery all through my secondary school days and was seriously looking up to what University has to offer me. but i was so very disappointed when i engage those so-called Nigerian professor in a one-on-one conversion, most are so dumb that at the moment i am not ever dreaming ever to send my kids to any Nigerian university for any reason. |

dfrost:Good bad?based on what? This is just sentiment not based on anything It has no objective basis . Some people are mature enough to marry at 18 and some are not at 28. We cannot make rules for everyone People.are old enough to make a decision to join the army and be killed at 18 but not old enough to graduate university,? Ifeanyi Okowa graduated as a doctor at 21 so graduating for a 4 year course at 18 or 19. Is no big deal. In trade you could be a tailor, barber, driver etc at 19 so what is the issue? It depends on the profession e.g I have no problem with an Accountant qualifying at 16 in contrast to a doctor |

successmatters: The wiser parents will go ahead to register them in private schools without the common entrance certificate. Later they will write the exam when their age is qualified |

Graficient: I love the fact that you stated the truth, I only disagree with using the word “wise” Some people are still denying the influence and roles parents play is what they term “extraordinary brilliance” Kudos! I love your sincerity! |

Why do you have to ban underage candidates with high IQs from taking Common Entrance Exam? Just because Fulanis can NOT stand the heat, then you want the rest of the ethnic groups to retard their progress? |
Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by HacheNoire: 12:38am On Jun 05, 2023 |
Originalsly: Will that still make that child to qualify for a motor GP? No! Because the system has age limits! So even if he is the best biker in the world at age 16, he will never be able to make it to the Moto GP till he is 18 |
Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by HacheNoire: 12:41am On Jun 05, 2023 |
UNDFTD: High IQ’s determined by local teachers and schools! Don’t go tribal about it. The western education adopted by the west, still holds that age limit. And the definition of exceptional is far off different from what plays in Nigeria! |

Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by UNDFTD: 3:24am On Jun 05, 2023 |
HacheNoire: They must be intelligent if they passed the Common Entrance at that tender age. At least you did NOT hear that the reason to ban underage candidates is because they are failing. I am NOT sure what Western country you're talking about. At least in America, exceptional students skip grades. They take AP classes and test out in college. So, what's your point? I guess Nigeria celebrates mediocrity and it shows! |
Re: FG Bans Underage Candidates From Taking Common Entrance Exams by HacheNoire: 3:30am On Jun 05, 2023 |
UNDFTD: How do exceptional students skip grades in America? How many students from AP class makes it to exceptional status? How many of such exceptional students are churned out in a decade and what standard are used to grade them? Is it school dependent or ISD and state dependent? What is the process that makes a student exceptional? When you find answers to those questions, compare to Nigeria where 80% of students are already exceptional. Every school “INDEPENDENTLY” awards or sells it to you without no monitoring board or institutions. And you here trying to compare both with Nigeria where over 70% take long jump in the name of exceptional |

I don't understand this numbers. For the whole country? i am baffled. This is at complete variance from the number that wrote/writes jamb. This year was almost 1m, more that 10x. |
