This is very terrible situation. What the OP described is no different from slave labor. 8 am - 8 pm Sunday to Sunday for a salary of only $35 a month? That is criminal.

Last time I checked, Nigeria has a free market system. The market determines the price. No one is forcing you to apply for the job, so it cannot be an enslavement.

If people refuse to apply for the job, it may force the hand of the employer to increase the starting salary.

She's right. The only thing is, you'll never see such vacancies as the 100k salary publicly advertised. Starting salaries for meager jobs like such (gatemen, cleaners, etc) start from 30, 40, 50k, and above on the Island. So, it's not a lie.

You don't have shame, honestly. Were you forced. If you don't like the offer you tell her. If you had a better offer i don't think you would have attended the invite. Why not start your own business so you can pay your workers 100k per month. If you like it or not, the harder the economy, the poor will be the ones to continue to get poorer.
