The prerequisite for gaining admission into Nigerian Universities, is that you must score
Credit passes in 5 subjects including English and Mathematics

WHY are the duo of English and Mathematics compulsory?. Are they not subjects as Biology, Physics, Commerce, Economics, Physical and Health Education, Computer Studies, Chemistry, Geography etc?.

Why do I have to score credit passes compulsorily in English and Mathematics?.
How come English and Mathematics are special? Do they have two heads?. Are they more subjects than other subjects?.

This Obidients that framed the electoral acts must be mad.

Why must our president score 25% in Abuja before he would be declared president?.
So Abuja residents are more Nigerians than others?.

Those asking why Abuja is special should also sue WAEC and NECO and demand to know why English and Mathematics are special

All other presidents scored at least 25% in Abuja. The electoral law didn't say you should win Abuja, it said score at least 25% in Abuja.

Nigeria has 36 states that is why 2/3 of the 36 states is 24. Abuja is Not a state.

If Nigeria has 37 states, when it comes to electoral matters (i.e in the case that Abuja is considered a state here), then 2/3 of 37, isn't 24.

But because the constitution framers didn't envisage Abuja as a state even in electoral matters, but rather stick to the 36 states of Nigeria AND FCT, that's why 2/3 of 36 states is 24 states.

Olodo, this is not true.
This is how they state it: 5 credit passes to include English language. Then they would go on to state the remaining four subjects apart from English language. If you are going for a pure art course they hardly ask for mathematics.

No, Fct has a minister. Why do you keep making mistakes like this?

To pass SSCE

You need 5 O level credits including English and Mathematics

It means it must include English and Mathematics and any three other subjects according to your department

If science, they would be Physics, chemistry and Biology or Agric as your case may be

If Arts/Humanities they would be Government, Literature and Nigerian Language or CRS/IRS or Economics as your case may be

If Social Science (Commercial) they would be Commerce, Financial Accounting, Geography or Economics or History (obsolete) or Government or Nigerian Language as your case may be

It's not that English and Mathematics are special but they are the common subjects for all the departments

I teach English

Ok, but you haven't told us why English and Mathematics which are also 'subjects' are so vital that you must pass them and any 3 other subjects before you could be considered to have passed SSCE.

Why are they compulsory?.

Are they more subjects than others?.

Wake up to a police raid on my next door village neighbour's house thinking they came to bust me. But alas, my Chi is strong. I go outside and see my useless poor palmwine tapper of a father and give him a slide tackle . My mother squirms anticipating her own early morning slap while pointing at my Okpa meal while saying "sorry Chidi , I couldn't get you your usual tea as I am broke". I give her a look that makes her drop her gaze and walk out with my Okpa and warn her to ensure my food is ready by the time I get back home.

Pass my neighbours who have gathered in front of Chigozie's father's compound. I ask Stanley who was part of the crowd who they arrested. Stanley said it was chigozie and his brother and that they were picked up by SARS for armed robbery. Stanley asks me for some cash . I rebuke him reminding him that when he was in Thailand before he was sentenced I was asking him for money but he refused .

I move to Mama Chinyere's joint but everyone fell silent. That's when I knew these Ogogoro bastards thought it was me that SARS arrested and had been talking at my back. I take two Ogidiba bitters at once and look at the gathering of spineless losers and say "which of Una go pay for my drink?" They all stood up volunteering to pay for it . I move . Time for some weed . As I smoke my ganja while taking my morning shit on Okafor's farm , I decided to call Obinna who said there was a job for me. I call him and he tells me to meet him in Onitsha head bridge .As I prepare to drop one last shit and take my last puff , Okafor walks in and started complaining and pointing his cutlass at me. I seize it from him and butcher him on the spot .

I move.

In no time I am in Onistha head bridge and meet Obinna and his men and soon we are moving in a stolen Sienna SUV heading to Nnewi to kidnap one business man . On our way we got accused by vigilantes who shot at our stolen car for refusing to stop. The driver dies instantly. Obinna is hit on the neck and two other of his friends are shot gasping for air. I crawl out of the crashed car and begin to limp into the bush and from there make my way through the thicket with gunshots piercing pass me. After a while the gunshots cease and I no longer her the voice of the vigilantes that were chasing me. They had turned back. I begin to move until I get to a clearing and see what looks like a shrine with a large pot of freshly butchered human flesh. I am now hungry. Then out of the clearing come two men, one holding a severed fresh pair of legs and the other a dripping human head. I say to dem: nna man, "can I join Una chop special meat." They pause for a while then say : "sure ! I don't see why not. Just help us with the fire ".

Why they are important is because they are the only two subjects that all the students do in common no matter their departments

That's why

I'm so proud of Nigerians, as represented by the Centre of Unity known as Abuja, for roundly rejecting that drugged out thief.

The way these Yoruba BAT supporters denounce this Abuja matter, you would think that Abuja is one of the South East states. Remind them that Abuja is the capital of Nigeria in which all tribes are well represented, which makes it unthinkable that their BAT who claimed to have won the election couldn't even score up to 25% of the vote, all they would do is blab shamelessly.

Abuja is the Centre of Unity, since Lagos now belongs to the Yorubas. It doesn't make sense for you to want to rule Nigeria without being able to get at least a quarter of the vote. Otherwise you must be a very big thief.

Meaning they are the melting point of all the students irrespective of leanings?. Awesome.

Why are we feigning ignorant of the fact that Abuja is the melting point of all Nigerians, as Abuja is the Capital of Nigeria and hence a microcosm of Nigeria, and in fact can substitute the name Nigeria?

You must be referring to the true capital of Nigeria, Lagos State?

State capital of Abuja is Aso Rock. But should I tow your line of argument as Abuja not having State capital, state house of assembly members, and all the paraphernalia of a state, it's wise to unequivocally state that Abuja is therefore not a state, and can't be counted among states in Nigeria, and hence, the more reason it should be treated with respect and dignity and therefore anyone wishing to preside over Nigeria must get at least a 25% affirmation from her residents

However take note

If you pass English and Mathematics and you didn't have at least credits in the three other subjects in your department

You still haven't passed your SSCE

So it means you need 5 important subjects to pass your SSCE

2 general subjects - English and Mathematics
3 Departmental subjects as your case may be

You need 5 subjects to pass SSCE

They are of equal importance

Lagos being the true capital of Nigeria as you postulates, is subjective. Every state is the true capital of Nigeria, but Abuja is the constitutional capital of Nigeria
