Just in Nigerian born English boxer Anthony Oluwafemi Joseph stopped his highly rated opponent via corner stoppage Anthony Joshua, speaking to DAZN: "I can't rate my performance. Ben Davison, my performance team, I'll leave it up to them." Was that the old Anthony Joshua? "Just another fight. I respect Otto. Not so much a throwback fight, just another day in the office. Victory by any means. Like Otto, you want to do whatever it takes to be victorious. That's all I want to be." Joshua's record: "I was looking on the roster of heavyweights that have been on this card. I've thought Otto, fought Parker, was going to fight Baby Miller. I've been around the block." Otto Wallin praise: "Otto is a true warrior. The corner play a huge role so their fighter can live to fight another day. I'm a gifted fighter and I use my gift. I'm searching for greatness. Ben Davison is a great addition to my goal. I'm sure you can see that today." On Wilder losing: "I wasn't watching. I just focused on myself. I know how important it was for me. I heard that Deontay lost. So what? He'll be back. Deontay, everything that he said about me, I could rip him apart right now, but I'm going to take the higher ground." Can Wilder come back: "Look at Dubois this evening, you can come back. If he wanted to, he can come back. I'm sure everyone still wants to see that fight." Becoming three-time champion: "That would be great. Every fight leads to a final destination. Keep on praying and working hard. I've got to stay focussed because I'm on a journey and it's hard." Three wins this year: "We've got bigger ambitions than that. As I said to Louis Theroux, we don't celebrate when we win these fights, we celebrate when we win titles Congratulations Anthony. 2 Likes

I have no interest in non-title bouts like this. Call me when it's AJ vs Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk. 1 Like |

9jaBloke: Otto Wallin went all the way with Fury. Fury won with a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. It took Joshua 5 rounds to finish Otto Wallin. This is a big victory that shows Anthony Joshua’s strength and put a dent on Fury claim to be the greatest heavyweight of this era. Joshua’s victory is even more sweeter considering how Parker messed up Wilder. The wilder victories are the biggest fights in Fury’s career and today, that record got thrashed with Parker’s victory over Wilder. Wilder is a fraud and a big bum. Now, all Joshua needs to do is wait for the winner between Fury vs Usyk and then reclaim the titles. Wilder is done. Nobody will give such a bum any serious consideration again. He should just go and hang his gloves. Congratulations to Anthony Olufemi Joshua. 7 Likes 1 Share |

9jaBloke: Trust some nairalanders to resort to name-calling. Avid Boxing followers know that the multiple championship titles and the various ranking bodies have resulted in an unsolid structure to the sport, making it a bit random when boxing matches are decided. Boxing is my favourite sport and I watched Iron Mike Tyson fight live. In the good days, it was more sport than commerce. Serious contenders had a go at one another and lineal/undisputed heavyweight champions emerged regularly. Sadly, this era is saddled with promoters and broadcasters who are more interested in wagers, pay per views, re-match clauses and profiteering rather than the traditional tenets of the sport. So yes, we are in a boring boxing generation where champions only get two quality fights a year, at times with relatively unknown opponents. Handlers purposely duck risky non-mandatory fights and choose easier options to the detriment of viewers. We waited aeons for Anthony Joshua & Deontay Wilder to clash when they were the two dominant forces, but that fight never happened and they were made to go through a procedure of mandatories instead. If not for Tyson Fury's brave heart and Andy Ruiz who upset Joshua, we would have been stuck in that cycle. The Boxing Ranking system is a different story. Unlike football and other sports, boxing does not have a supreme ranking body. There are five main organizations that rank fighters: The World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Association (WBA) and The Ring. Of the five, the WBA and the Ring are the oldest (at over 100 years old each). I deliberately left out BoxRec and TBRB for obvious reasons. These organizations release rankings periodically and are sometimes at loggerheads. (see screenshot) To fighters now, I categorize them into Serious contenders and Decent fighters. In my experienced opinion, the lineal championship is to be decided among Olek Usyk, AJ, Fury and Deontay(never mind his recent form). The decent fighters that most of them went through to get to the top include: Dillian Whyte, Jo Parker, Derek Chisora, Kubrat Pulev, Povetkin, Andy Ruiz and King Kong Ortiz. Yes, Wallin went the 12 with Fury but that's how Fury fights sometimes. I went through his professional boxing records and the only fighter of note that he defeated is Dominic Breazeale and it took him 12 rounds and a UD. Every serious fighter knocks out Breazeale. Wallin has to go through all the decents l listed above for me to properly rate him and I'm not surprised that he didn't make the top ten in both the Ring and the WBA rankings. Now I hope you get my point on the choice of Otto Wallin and the clamour for the unification of the belts to decide a lineal champion. 2 Likes 3 Shares
