May they never crash like dana, or bombed like boko. May they not end like Aluu 4, may they not be slaughtered like kaduna religious crises victims. They will serve God and their service will not be cut like Nysc victims in the north. May they not end up in car crash, may they not be stopped by bullets. The light of God will guide, guard and protect them. May all babies born to us(NLders)be like shinning stars. With good health, long life and prosperity. We will live long to carry their childrens children. Amen.

Moms, to prevent diaper rash, always make sure baby,s bum is completely dry before puting diaper on her. You can airdry or dry with tissue or napkin after washing her bum. If she has sore from poop siting in the diaper for too long, just wash with only water, pat dry, rub shea butter(pls buy clean one. It will be risky to use shea butter stored or produced in dirty environment on baby's broken skin) or any bum cream you chose. Then put diaper. If baby is teething and pooing frequently, please don't be tempted to leave the diaper untill she has poooped "enough" instead go buy those very cheap diapers that you can afford to change regularly without feeling the money spent.

My 3 week old baby has a rash all over his body. It started with the neck and we thought it was prickly heat. Now, its all over his face and head. I am getting worried.

Followed this thread with keen interest. I am a new dad,my daughter is less than three weeks old, my wife was having same b.r.east feeding issue until her cousin introduced her to a herbal product for mothers. This product worked like magic,as I type I am looking at introducing same product in Nigerian market.If I may ask mothers on here,products that enhances production of b.r.east milk are they available in the Naija market? This is something that will be of help to most mothers undergoing same problem in Nigeria and If anyone have information on this product in Naija please contact me at emma_nd@yahoo.com lets talk. I am based in the states and the manufacturers are also based out here....Cheers

Nice 1 @hanny, hi mummies its been a while have seen this tread come alive like this, anyways as for us battling with rashes, u can try tribotan(baby) its wat i use for my chairman and it works for him perfectly, and now that there is no more rash on him, i mix it with sheabutter for prevention of reoccurence........... May our effort on them never be in vain IJN

Blank could it possibly be ella (hope I spelt it correctly) I'm asking because the same thing happened to my daughter. We initially thought it was a rash till my neighbour told us otherwise, she gave me a red leave I used in bathing the baby and by the 2nd day it had cleared.
Maybe you could ask a more experienced woman around you that can physically examine the rash, cheers.

Blend oatmeal into powder and cook with water, mix with variety of fruits and let her drink milk ( formula) on top.

Blend pasta( any kind) with pasta sauce and feed for supper or lunch , drink 4oz milk on top.

Other meal ideas;

Rice pudding
Couscous
Sweet potato
Yogurt
Cottage cheese & fruit cocktail
Rice rusks and breast milk
And many more, just have the food processor handy and you're rolling.

Do you have Aveeno products ( shampoo, lotion, Bath treatment) there?

Try it and you'll see the wonder ,

Pls don't use any harsh stuff on the baby's tender skin.

Take care.

@Lanjun
trust God and you will hold your baby sooner than you think. have you visited the ttc thread. The women there are very supportive and are always there for one another spritually, emotionally and medically.
@Parents with toddlers. How many hours apart does your toddler eats? My 19 month old eats on a two hourly basis except when he's sleeping. The real task is having to brainstorm what to cook for him next as he's very selective with food and snacks.

He's having what peds call 'growth sprout" and he will slow down again after a while, then gets very selective , as per food and snack choices, Bananas are great and very handy(even to church or parks), non concentrated juice boxes, rice cakes,crackers, cheese cubes,dry cereals as finger snacks(cheerios) and if you want to go Nigerian; puff puff(add eggs to the batter) and they freeze very well. just pop it in the microwave and its ready.

to answer your question, my toddlers eat like 10 times in a day.(in bits) I know eh!

@Lanjun the Lord is your strength and HE will definitely grant your desire, as per ttc sisters ; baby dust to you.

ayobarmy: Mummies pls how safe it is for an 8weeks old baby boy to sleep on his chest??
There's nothing wrong with that. It even helps some babies sleep better and longer provided you position their heads such that they are comfortable and can breathe easily.

I had a similar problem with my first baby and it almost occurred with the second. Your baby's skin is actually reacting to something that doesn't go well with it and for now all you can do is sit and wait till it clears up completely. It's usually a case of the baby's skin reacting an offensive skin care product. Try to use natural baby oil or moisturiser on your baby from the day of birth. Though ori(shea butter) and palm kernel oil are good I didn't use them because of their smell but if you can handle it, then ok. I use olive oil till date on my 5weeks old baby and her skin has remained smooth and supple. I used johnsons baby products on her the day she was born and I noticed a few blister like rashes on her body so I stopped using it, immediately and it cleared a few days later. I applied the oil to her hair a week later to confirm if she was actually reacting to it and some of the rashes appeared again that was how i confirmed my earlier suspicion.

With the list of food below/food processor, i think you need to get a baby weight conversion calculator handy(tells you when to slow down on them food) e.g our baby girl is approaching 10 months and shes already 9.6kg(even after she came down with rotavirus i.e stooling and vommiting for days)although the books says she should be 8.5kg at 10 months so we are like 1.1kg above....
my point is whatch the weight as you feed.

Ayobarmy, you could try giving him a steam bath, it worked wonders for me. Put a bowl/basin of hot water under your laps and put your baby belly down on your laps so he can inhale the steam from the water, it'll help in clearing congestions.
I also use silverbird on my baby's head, it contains eucalypty oil which I find quite useful. Hope this help, cheers.

Try mentholated rub on chest and nose, if he's having hard time breathing , try paediatric saline( salt water). Take care.
