brokoto: to be honest with you guys, this topic is a non issue. nobody will agree to the others view. i just pray this doesn't degenerate into personal insults. when i was in my secondary school btw '98-2004, i was a hip hop addict. though i couldnt write my own lines, i could rap whatever Eminem and 50 cents did at the time. i was really a fanatic of Eminem. until 2005 when i kinda left it all and went into Classical and Opera. i can personally tell you that in terms of vocally producing whatever they did, rap is way easier. writing rap lines ain't easy i can give you that, it takes a whole lot of creativity and inspiration but if you want to know difficulty, go to google and type in : Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. pls tell me how many Rap artist/writers are known worldwide as legends. i mean real legends.if yhur talking abt legends ...... nas 2pac , rakim , biggie , eminem, etc |

eriam: Rakim, Nas, Common, Styles P, Pharaoh Monch, J Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Jay Z, Royce da 5'9 to mention a few are all mature rappers. U need 2 b creative, write lyrics and make them rhyme and am not talking about nursery rhymes I mean complex like Canibus but you dont need all that stress in singing, just write little and repeat your lines with sweet voice then you are done.tank yhu bruv . it aint easy to deliver flows !!!!!!! |

Both depend on how talented an artiste is.in my opinion, rapping is harder.once a singer goes through the normal process of voice training, dats all,no more training.a rapper on the other hand, sleeps, eats, drinks rap everyday.a singer can only talk about one thing in a song(love,heartbreak,sex,hate,disappointment.e.t.c).a (real)rapper can talk about several things in a song,a perfect example is "I know I can- Nas). |

And what does it take to rap?? Ok, that was tongue-in-cheek. But seriously, singing's gotta be more difficult. It's lots more technical. That's real SINGING o! Not the sort we get treated to at talent hunt auditions and even by so-called professional artistes! |

Rap is more difficult. Some people are saying matured men don't rap, have u guys forgoten 2pac? Abi him no be matured man? In one of his rap lyrics he said "though its hard but besides rapping the only tin i did good was rapping" wat of bigie, nas, mode 9, dagrin, eminem, they are not matured? |

Am a rapper, but as much as rapping is breathe-consuming,singing is harder, you can sustain longer rapping on a high pitch than you can singing. |

Hip hop is the best.... The first time I listened to this tune right here, it was like God himself was talking to me... I was drunk but the lyrics almost made me shed a tear.. Hip hop is my first love - and definitely the most difficult art form... Tupac - Who Do You Believe In? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbtz02uaGFc |

Abeg, who said everybody can rap? try rapping Busta rhyme's part in Chris Brown's Look at me now and come and tell me if you still think everybody can rap. Rapping is harder. Not only do you need the flow, you need the rhyme and the bars, like solid punchlines and not Sina Rambo type of rap. Rap is like poetry, its not just an ordinary mixture of words. 1 Like |

Hello pple, RAP means Rhythm applied Poetry or Rhythm and Poetry... We both know singing almost only starts and ends at rhythms and beats..there's little concentration on the lyrics and delivery, Rap on the other hand is an extension, it includes word plays, puns, punchlines, rhymes and more technicality...Many rappers can sing e.g. Eminem, P.diddy, Drake, lil wayne e.t.c. And have done well @ dat with awards to show for it, I have nt seen any singer dat has done viceversa. Rappers are not ordinary musicians, they are poets and u surely need more dan an ear for rhythm and tune to put words together and drive home ur point. |
Re: Singing And Rapping Which One Is More Difficult by Nobody: 8:02pm On Sep 08, 2012 |
Both are difficult, it all depends on individual opinion, i prefer singing to rap anytime anyday. @op i read where you mentioned ocean eyes, you must be a fan of adam young. |

I don't blame you guys. Hip hop promotes incorrect usage and fracturing of the English language; and thus ignorance. FYI, I'm a composer. And I insist that singing is more difficult than rapping. I'm not speaking of mediocre singing, btw. |
Re: Singing And Rapping Which One Is More Difficult by Nobody: 8:08pm On Sep 08, 2012 |
ArQueBusieR: I thought you were going to list legends like: John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Madonna, Prince, Whitney Houston, Maria Carey, R. Kelly etc... Most of the clowns you listed are mediocre singers, and none of them write their songs... Even Motown legends never wrote their songs... It shows you know nothing about music and the art form - go to bed, mate.. 2 Likes |

Best topic ever, gotta start like this.......... Rapping is way difficult to do because anybody like TERRG can rock the mic anyday and time but the complexity of rap is really what makes lil wayne & rick ross stands out.........a good rapper makes research and often rap with poetry in line with his song or the song he's been featured in thats why MI is still a studio thug to me cus his lyrics are wack couple with flimsy rhymes futhermore rappers takes chorus in some songs meaning they can also sing so rap is really a big deal when i spit sum flow worth a big deal its no big deal.on a scale of 1 to 10 ima score nigeria 4 cus our rappers are r-e-t-a-r-d. 1 Like |

Re: Singing And Rapping Which One Is More Difficult by Nobody: 8:24pm On Sep 08, 2012 |
Singing...is most difficult. Anyone can learn to write a few bars (lines) that rhyme and make sense. Poetry is what rap is essentially (well...at least some ). When singing, the vocal and ranges must be right. Unlike rap which for the most part is just monotone, singing requires one to have the ability to switch from high and low pitches. Sure ANYONE can sing, but it doesn't always sound good and require lots of practice. All in all, for me it's pretty obvious that rapping is much easier. |
