Its very essy to psycho analyse you. You're an idealist Nigerian who spends his time on travel section and watching YouTube videos, dreaming of the abroad and hoping to afford it someday.
Learn to listen to some of us who've experienced quite a bit of both ends.

Omho see brutality grin grin grin. He said hoping to afford it someday. That hurt my feelings o

Well anyone who can afford it should do it. You can't lose betting against Nigeria especially once this new regime is sworn in except you are well-connected politically

This is a general rant now, not directed at you.

Nigerians are lazy, unimaginative and entitled. They think running abroad will give them a great life. When they realise they still need to work hard, they start lamenting and some take to crime.

They say Nigeria is so bad but I see young igbo boys in Asaba, Auchi, Nsukka and some other obscure places making money and buying properties.

The Lebanese, Chinese and Indians come here and set up thriving businesses and even try to get our citizenship.

People talk of kidnapping as a reason to run. How many of your relatives have been kidnapped? How many of your relatives have died of a seizure? Our problem is myopia. Have you visited India, Cambodia or even Swaziland to learn of how people live and their cultures? The world is not UK and US alone.

Other nationalities migrate everyday. Unfortunately, Nigerians migrate because others are migrating. They have no clear cut reason.

Nobody anywhere in the world will have a great life without working hard for it, except you're a trust fund baby. We look down on uber drivers here but go there and drive uber.

People claim to want a better life for their kids and then sell their properties and borrow money. How many of you groom your kids from birth and expose them to opportunities for scholarships and help them learn a sport that can give them scholarships abroad since you're so concerned about your kids.

Most of those claiming to japa for the kids, their kids will end up becoming gays, junkies etc. Their kids will end up as delivery men and security men because the parents lack the values of hard work and critical thinking which they should pass on to their kids.

My kids will have the opportunity to school anywhere in the world, just to broading their horizon and give them choices but the basic foundation has been laid. I have laid a foundation that even if they chose to go to Kenya, they will excel.

A goat in Nigeria will not become a lion in Canada because of the cold.

Till eternity. Most of you will die as slaves abroad. Very few will achieve anything tangible for the simple fact that life operates on principles.

The problem with this thought is that it assumes because it is BAD in Nigeria for someone, a move abroad can never be WORSE for d person!! Very untrue.. (Look at nigerians' move from Jona to Buhari for instance) U in frying pan can jump out and end up in fire.. So d individual needs to not be blind to realities but carefully consider various factors to
compare his life here and realistically possible life over there.

I was watching this video on YouTube. I will link the video. This girl wAs narrating all the cost it took for her to get to the UK. To my surprise it was like 20 million naira. I just cannot imagine dropping 20 million naira just like that for something I cannot see I know I will have numerous stomach ulcers if I had to be parting with these huge sums of money and I am not getting something tangible in return like a house. If I give you 20 million I expect you to at least give me a small bungalow in return. But maybe I am just a cheAp guy . Lol. How do you guys do it ?

I can tell you if cost over N12-15million to process school when you consider

Deposit of over 8000 pounds (half of tuition) to register
NHS/Visa
Ticket
Rent
Expenses
Bank deposits and all

Most of the people have support systems...I know I had to dig deep and even get some loans to help a family friend with intent to get paid back. 3 months in...still had to support rent but she has a job now and can support herself but not enough to pay tuition..so after helping with that...it will definitely cost over N20m.

Another friend had family members pay for like half and all...then she got there with hubby and they are all caught up...again with the plan to pay back those family members in the UK. Some Sell properties and have more and take the chance. It is not cheap at all

Is it worth it?. well the debate is still on.

Yep you were fortunate to have japa-ed when things were better and less expensive. I hear about the cost of relocation too and like you I think to myself......mehn this is crazy! I can't do this and I won't do it, even if I have that kind of money.

To me it feels like a rip off and pillage of our resources, similar to what the crown did to us years ago through colonization. Where they looted and plundered our lands, only this time, we are the ones willfully participating in this rip off.

A close friend confided in me that she felt blue and downcast, because almost everyone she knows has japa-ed, even people junior to her in status and financial well being. I laughed and had a lengthy conversation with her on the importance of not looking at others or jumping on the japa train, for all the wrong reasons.

She and hubby own a house here, I asked her, are you willing to give that up to start over at your age? In a foreign country that is now over-flooded with immigrants and barely enough jobs/resouces to go round? I sent her a Youtube video as well to help inform her decision at the end of the day.

brother, even medical doctors are not well paid in the UK talk less of security. Let me break it down for you. They pay about 15 pounds per hour if you are in London and cheaper outside. Let's say you can do 60 hours a week that is 900 pounds a week or let's say 3600 a month . It appeArs like a lot if you convert to naira. But you live in London and don't spend naira. Ok so you are at a higher tax bracket which is 40 percent so you take home like 2700 a month. It's London so your rent is like say 1000 if say you are single and no family and managing a small one bedroom. So that 1700 left. Council tax is like 150. You left with 1550. Let's say your utilities 300 a month you have 1250. Transport lets say 200. That's 1050. Phone and internet lets say 100. That's 950. Feeding let's say 400. That's 550 left. Clothing and haircut and miscellaneous like eating out and sending to naija etc and buying naija foods let's say like 300 a month. You have 250 left. Young guy you want trip woman to movies or go pub to drink pints of beer etc let's say 200 a month. You have 50 pounds left. Now this is calculation for single man. If you have wife and children may GOD help you is your cAse lol

just checked the hourly rate in london. its 12 not 15. so i was being generous
mogbe but pple wey still de send money from abroad de try ooo... But again I guess the functionality of d environment and say it's efficient na im make pple de Japa...

I no too understand this your own o. You choose to live in a slum cos I have been in SW Calgary for a year now, not heard a single gun shot let alone been mugged.

Seniors that have plenty privileges and govt support are waste of space? These people even have specially built housing estate for them where they live like in hotels o. Even their homeless peeps have free accommodations prepared for them but a few of them will rather stay on the streets because of drugs not allowed in these homes. You people will be feeding others misinformation yet the percentage of people that have consistently left Nigeria is waaaay more than those returning.... if the place no pay pwrson, sebi them go return? As in, you for instance left UK for Nigeria and went back to Canada? Why not stay in Nigeria? Atleast I know some men who actually left the families in Canny and returned to Nigeria only to be visiting from time to time. That choice is there
Why aren't people returning in droves? If you go MMA tonight, just see how we kept leaving and how arrival is scanty. Even the arrival is filled with those with returning tickets grin. Japa is not good, the woes is too much, yet we aren't returning grin

Surely, life is hard in a foreign land until one gets ones rhyme...bu it is silly of anyone to just up and relocate without a concrete plan. Oya biko no quote me again.....I don run completely out of energy.

You have said it all bro.
