A friend that just got a job in UK want to start applying for his family application but realize that his evidence for marriage is only a church wedding certificate no court wedding certificate.
Can a church certificate suffice for marriage certificate that will be recognized by UK embassy ? And if no ,how can he get a document proving that his marriage is legally binding and has been living which his spouse for at least more than 2 years ( embassy requirement).
According to him, some local government he tried to seek for help told him it not possible to produce a backdated wedding certificate while some says it possible, so he now being afraid of not falling victim to local government scammers which can even earn him a ban in uk embassy if the certificate is later discovered not to be genuine.

You just got a job. There is no friend. The advice is for you and there is nothing wrong with that.
that out of the way… You dnt need a backdated certificate. Moslems get visa approved with nikkai certificate. It is accepted. As long as you are married, it is not only marriage certificate embassy is lookong for. You need to prove that the marriage is genuine and subsisting and therefore need evidence to cover this, church certificate is just one factor.. you need to tick other boxes. There is absolutely nothin wrong with chirch certificate pls scrap the idea of forging certificate out of your mind. Scrap it totally. You are married.

Okay thanks sis .This was her idea though cos she was like she wants me there so soon.. I was like we could even find easy ways aside the marriage stuffs
N she said one of her sisters said the marriage would be the easiest n fastest . Even her mom is a British/Nigerian and she also wants me to be there so just like we need any easy ways to be there
I thought they can give an invite or any other thing or is it not possible?
it has just been 2 months.. rather this is the 2nd month, 1st year student… living with parents… pls listen to the sound word of advice given above. All u have stated can not get u approval.
And also stop sayin she wants… she said.. that’s not fair. You want to leave through this means, which is ok..

check google. There is a way to retrieve your immigration information held by ukvi.

Good morning guys,

My husband got his refusal letter 2 weeks ago but is yet to get a passport collection mail, is it advisable to pop down to the Ikeja Centre and check if his passport is Available?? And if it is, what time should we be there for fast response?

Also he was refused based on error made by the officer that handled his application. They stated he didn’t show his financials and his business and we most certainly did, we don’t have rights to request a review or an appeal. Please what can we do next? I don’t think it’s fair. We included everything, even my own 10 year visa and marriage certificate, his company’s financial statement with balance of 6m, his personal statement with balance of 2.5m, CAC, sale receipts, wedding pictures, hotel reservations, tax, but was refused based on an error we can’t contest.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by headhoncho(m): 8:23am On Feb 07, 2022
Sorry about that. I suggest you reapply without using an agent and address the error. Agents are mostly parasites to applications. They are mostly of more harm than good. Just apply yourself, all the information you need are freely available here

All the best.

Oh no I meant error from the ukvi agent, we included the company statement through bank but he didn’t bother to check that. He only checked personal statement.

Just to be clear, which marriage certificate do you have? The one with the church name or the one with the federal govt logo? Licenced churches gove the same certificate that you'd normally get if you had a court wedding.
You also need to prove that you have a geniune marriage by showing pictures, joint bills, joint investments/properties, evidence that youve lived together for at least 2 years, if applicable e.t.c

You can reapply and when you get to the part of have you been refused , you will answer yes and give reason

With this new application, write a cover letter and itemise all the docs you submitted .I wish you the best

[quote author=ENEMIESENEMY post=110028256]Hi Guys,

The visa officer made a mistake, and also says no right of appeal or right of administrative review. It says NGN 3,405 , but that is actually a USD account, and it's supposed to be USD 3,405 not Naira. Does that mean I can't ask them to review this, and I have to submit a new application?

Wow this is so sad. I am so sorry .
The visa officer clearly made an error , that's why it's important that we also back our application with prayers . If the visa officer is distracted or in a bad mood he can make an error .

There was something I did when I needed to renew my visa.
I only got a statement of account from my current account and dollar account .
But because I had other sub accounts with them . I asked for a summary of all my accounts in one letter .
When it got to the dollar account , they inputed the naira equivalent using the exchange rate of that particular day.
I have attached a copy of it to guide you .

I wish you the best .

Hello Giselle237,

I have pasted your previous response to my query below, just to remind you our last conversation.

i do believe closing balance does not matter for fully sponsored as I have seen some pretty bad statements . most ecos want to see your personal financial circumstances in your country which is the bank statement even if someone is paying for the trip. How do they know what life you are living? How can they tell your situation ?
Three things tht dnt look right that was filled on the fomr
1. Unemployed
2. You stated she does not receive any income. Money from her husband as allowance is income, money from family members and cash gifts etc are incomable and should have been filled there.
3. You quoted her monthly expenses as 25k with no bank statemt for them to align if this was true or not.
The profile looks like one of someone who is financially incompetent and could run to the uk and seek asylum or recourse to public funds or of they see a paying job will not want to return home.
I believe since she is nearly elderly and has a husband and perhaps other children in nigeria, her situation could have been presented differently even though it is a sponsored trip. You could have shown other ties. Even linked her to her husband more especially if he has properties and align it as belonging to them etc.
What to do next. Take a look at her bank statement say in the last 3 months. How does it look?
Ingoing? Outgoing etc
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have had a look at her two bank statements for the last 6 months.
- Her savings account has a closing of 400kplus. It's very clean, 9 deposits all made by her in the last six months. Minimal withdrawals too.
- Her day to day account. Closing balance of 1k plus. It's very busy, deposits from her kids, husband, in-law, and those I don't recognise their names.
- I have looked at her husband's payslips, 300kplus a month.
- The two landed properties are in her husband's name. One document is missing, they are looking for it but one document is available.
- She is retired and receives pension but we repeatedly requested for a letter from the pension people but they refused to write one. They kept insisting she get's a letter from the UK embassy as proof of why she needs the letter. It's not possible to do this so I went with the unemployed option. This pension is not paid monthly but four times a year. It's paid into her busy day to day account and on the statement, the pension appeared on the 1st of July and 1st of October.
- She does have a petty business, not registered, really small.

- Which of her bank statements do I submit considering all I explained?
- Would her husband's payslips and the one landed property documents be enough?
- To articulate her monthly income, do I calculate all deposits from my dad and the rest of us for each month? It would vary from month to month.
- Is there still need to mention the pension issue since we already went with unemployed?

Thank you so much.

I'll welcome contributions from everyone that can help please.

Okay, well if the eco determined that the documents at that time were fake, be it knowingly or not, the applicant would be served with a 10year ban and would have to serve the 10 years, especially in the event such refusal and decisions were communicated to the applicant at that time. But again, each application is handled on individual case.
The main applicant may want to write an AR for the dependent or ask an immigration lawyer to help do so.
Best wishes.

your choice, but me reminded pounds is the legal tender, meaning if you went with $ you would have to buy pounds which you wont like the exchange rate.
