Since you have made up your mind about relocating, i cannot but wish you all the best in your endeavour.

For starters, you need to consider your accomodation options. Accomodation is very expensive in this country. Depending on where you want to live, i wont go into details anymore as i have discussed that in prior conversations/post. in some cases, that entire N600knaira with you is what you will spend on accomodation in one year for one room here in SA. So do not be fooled into thinking N600k naira will sustain you in SA. Revisit Collinsfbi's quotation.

You need to set aside some amount to procure a permit as per your circumstance, and the amount varies. You will figure that out when you get here.

Jobs are not a guarantee anywhere in the world, but everybody's fate differs, who knows, you may succeed where others fear to thread.

I think you have killed it all, kudos bro, in addition to your comment/reply to his comment, there is no absolute security anywhere in the world only in God you can find protection. Once you don't indulge in any criminal activities and you don't keep bad company and obey SA laws, believe me, you don't seems to have problem. Mind you, where you reside also matters, as far as am concerned, you can try Capetown, Port Elizabeth or some part of pretoria like Centurion, Capital park and some other places within Pretoria north or west. I have also seen the plight of many immigrants, been to Hillbrow and Sunnyside in pretoria, refugee camps on Capetown and many townships where foreigners reside so I too am talking from experience.

On my last visit to SA earlier this year, I met a chap on the plane with similar aspirations as yourself. He was going to SA to hustle it out. I advised him regarding the same things you are beind told here and gave him my number to call if he needed more advice.

Low and behold couple of months ago, he called me and was desperately in need of help as he was stranded in SA with no money, job or accomodation to live in. He began to cry on the phone and beckon me to assist him in any way possible. To cut a long story short. This particular individual is back home in Nigeria now.

No one is trying to stop you from going to Sa as it is obviously physically impossible to do so. However keep in mind that SA of the early 2000's is not the same today. There are stricter immigration laws, crack downs on immigrants and the economy is not doing as well as before duing the Mbeki era. Therefore there are more hostilities towards African immigrants especially ones from Nigeria.

The bottom line is you need CAPITAL to establish properly in SA. My advice would be to visit the country first. Take a look around and get a feel for the place over a period of 2 to 3 monthns on a tourist visa. If it is feasible then prepare to come back knowing fully well what you are getting into.

If you think there's no hostilities against Nigerians in SA, try standing on the line with some of them at the airport through immigration when they are entering SA. Stop pulling a sheet over your face and call it as it is. Its like me denying there are Nigerians in SA that are up to no good.

I warned Papy2000 of what he should expect when he lands in the country. This is however not a general statement. All SA are not bad just like all Nigerians are not bad.

I don't know what exactly you are looking for but the processing of securing Permanent Residence Permit in SA take up to 2years to 30months and there are things you are required to possess before you can apply for PR in SA. There are two immigration categories under which you can apply for PR in SA
Direct Residence, you can apply for PR directly if you are foreigner who have been on work permit for 5years and who have received a permanent offer of employment. In general, if you meet all the requirements, your spouse and children under 21 years of age automatically qualify for same PR.
Residence on other grounds includes foreigners who posses extraordinary skills or qualifications, those who intend to set up business in SA, refugees (under certain conditions), relatives of SA citizen (spouse applying for PR must be in relationship or married for 5years before being eligible though they can apply for temporary residence permit before the 5years. Please note that if you have been in a relationship for 4 years and then get married, the 5 years start from the beginning. that is a big flaw in Home Affairs' interpretation).

Either you have a stable job or not, you must be a holder of work permit for 5years before you can apply for PR, and you must have a permanent employment offer and be of good character. Mind you, it will be hard to fake employment offer/job experience within SA (as some naija now secure work permit through "legal practitioners" popularly known as agent without working) because you will go through series of interview and you must be able to defend your work permit and your years of experience.

If you are really going for study, you will enjoy SA with your study permit because it's easy to secure visa from SA to any part of the world as long as you reside legally and financially buoyant. $350/per month will be ok for you if you don't live big and if you share apartment with somebody.

CollinsFbi couldn't have explained bbetter. Yes, you may be able to survive on $350 monthly (all inclusive)i.e accomodation, food,phone calls occassionally etc..
Food is very cheap so you may be able to work around with your spendings on that.else, accomodatioon is expensive, so its best to share.

You can choose any institution of your choice as long as you meet the school requirements. As for permit, it will βє̲̣̥ easier applying in SA because you will need to evaluate your result from (SAQA) and SAQA evaluation is one of the requirements for study permit. As for the duration of permit i cannot ascertain but if you apply with complete docs, i am sure you will get it ± 5 weeks at worst.

Since you are new I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ SA, hire a car to take you from jo'burg to sun city, it's about 150km from jo'burg and it takes maximum of 3hrs drive depending on the traffic within Jo'burg. When you arrive, you can ask about sun city hotel or cabanas hotel. Have A̶̲̥̅ nice trip.
